TEACHINGS OF HANSHI
THE SIGNIFICANT MEANING OF OUR DOJO KUN
Our traditional “Dojo Kun” indeed is the “Oath,” of our Ryu (school) mirroring the budo etiquettes of past, and present budo masters.
Our Dojo Kun reminds us that all actions in traditional budo; always begins and ends by amplifying courtesy, respect and dignity. We commence and bring to a close each traditional training session; by reaffirming our Dojo Kun in one unified voice; this demonstrates a personal and sincere spiritual commitment to our art and teachers.
By this action we display our true being; therefore each student and teacher portrays dignity and respect towards another and the philosophies held within the art, indeed our traditional Dojo Kun reminds us of how we should strive to demonstrate the traditional philosophies’ of courtesy and respect.
The traditional Dojo Kun is therefore a reflection of the time honoured principles founded in our Budo study, that has been unselfishly passed down to us by our traditional budo masters; therefore we should always be mindful, to carry within our journey, the life guiding principals of our “Traditional Dojo Kun.”
