Taylor travelled to Honbu Dojo to sit the Shodan Examination – 1st Dan Black Belt grading in 2016, after completing the six hour grading examination, he was awarded the senior traditional grading rank of Shodan, making him one of only a few Karate Ka in New Zealand to do so.

Taylor Sempai began his traditional Karate Do training as a junior student (deshi) where he completed the transition to the senior grading ranks, setting a fine example to other students of what can be achieved through, dedication and spirited training. “We welcome him to the Yudansha grading rank of Shodan.”
