To the Takahashi-ha no Ryukyu – Shuri-te Karate-do Association of New Zealand; which was first introduced into New Zealand in 1962 by the late Takahashi Kentsu – Soke, 10th Dan (1900-1994)
Garry O’Connor Hanshi was the first New Zealand deshi (student) to study under Takahashi Soke, and today he has been acknowledged as the last documented legitimate senior student of O Sensei Takahashi, after the death of Ichou Ito Shihan in 2006. Today our traditional martial arts heritage continues through O’Connor Hanshi our principal Instructor sharing the teachings of:
Takahashi – ha no Ryukyu – Shuri Te .
We are deeply passionate about preserving our Traditional Karate Do lineage, with integrity and respect. We sincerely believe in bringing out the “very best” in our students at all levels of instruction, therefore teaching a profound martial art and it’s culture; from Okinawa – Japan.

Our Traditional Okinawan Karate Dojo is located at The Whitikahu Community Hall Taupiri – Waikato.

Our Traditional Karate Do Classes are based on proven teaching methods, where our focus is on significant personal development, building self-confidence and respect in all of our students.Therefore developing effective martial art skills with courtesy and respect.

The New Zealand Association; is a Shibu – Branch Dojo of Honbu Dojo, that teaches the traditional art under the registration of O’Connor Hanshi – Judan-10th Dan; The Principal Instructor for Oceania.
